Kiva Kitchen & Bath: A Conversion Connection

September 29, 2010

Images are 95px by 95pxThere’s a big difference between four months and four days. And, the time it takes to get up and running after a conversion affects both customers and employees alike. Kiva Kitchen & Bath learned this first-hand when they chose Zerion for the second phase of their Eclipse conversion. With better training and consulting, Kiva was able to derive the benefits of Eclipse – and get back to full, customer-pleasing capacity – in a much shorter timeframe than their previous install. Tom Maples, Kiva’s VP of Operations, remarked, “The end result after the conversion far, far exceeded our expectations! These kinds of conversions rarely go smoothly, but this one went with hardly any problems whatsoever. Zerion deserves all of the credit for that.” To download the complete success story, click here.

Eclipse Tip: Review PO Backorders

September 29, 2010

Images are 95px by 95pxSo, you were expecting 100 pieces of that widget from your vendor; but, the truck showed up at your dock and you only received 95. Now you need to get the rest; but, when? Typically, Eclipse’s back order field on POs is set to default to three days. However, this may not be accurate. What if the vendor is going to deliver it in two? Or worse, 10? Here’s the solution: In vendor file maintenance, you can determine the number of days for a back order for a vendor. If you set this field to “review” instead of a number, it will prompt the back order to show or display in the “Review PO Back Orders queue” as a purchase order. That way, you have a reminder to follow-up on it and find out the actual date of the expected delivery. GET MORE free Eclipse help …

Keep ‘Em Comin’

September 29, 2010

Images are 95px by 95pxThis month, we started working with two new customers. In mid-August, a Zerion consultant visited Columbus, Indiana to work with Southcentral Company. The HVAC, plumbing and industrial distributor compiled a “wish list” of Eclipse issues that needed to be resolved. It included menus and authorizations, along with future aspirations for pricing and RF. Our first opportunity to work together was a success, and we look forward to more!

Also, we’re in the midst of an RF installation for Hill Country Electric. The Texas-based electrical distributor had us train them on RF and turn on RF picking this month. Soon, we’ll be heading back to turn on RF receiving/purchasing.

Thanks for the new business and welcome to our newest friends!

News: Software Wars, WMS, BI and CIOs

September 29, 2010

Images are 95px by 95pxThat sure is a lot of acronyms! But, it’s the “who’s who” and “what’s what” of distribution, software and technology this month. Some industry news stories we found interesting include two Industrial Distribution reports, one on the Software Wars to get distributors’ business, and the truth about Warehouse Management. Also, we liked this analysis on how to make Business Intelligence successful in ERP, and CIO Magazine‘s report on IT hiring. GET MORE news…
